KMU-PMDC Organized 2 days Inspectors Training Workshop
Justice (Retd) Mian Shakirullah Jan, President Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Islamabad while addressing to the inaugural ceremony of Khyber Medical University (KMU) and PMDC two days Inspectors Training Workshop as chief guest has said that with the newly promulgated Regulations 2018 PMDC has entered into a new era of reforms in medical education throughout the country. Beside others VC KMU Prof Dr Arshad Javaid, Director KMU-ORIC Dr Zohaib Khan, Faculty and Inspectors from Public and Private Medical & Dental Colleges were present at the occasion.
Justice (retd) Mian Shakirullah Jan said that the PMDC had not introduced so many effective regulations until the formation of the present council, as it has been made between the last nine months. He said that in the past the sacred professions like medicine, were also not spared by some of the black sheep but when the present council was formed on the order of the Supreme Court, it took the reforms process as a challenge. In the last nine months holding of 40 meetings for implementation of new reforms and regulations was the clear evidence that the present council was committed to coup with the challenges of standardization of medical education across the country according to the international standards.
The PMDC President said that the PMDC has introduced the new regulations pertaining to admissions, house jobs and Internship for all public and private medical and dental colleges of the country. These reforms and regulations are not only welcomed by the students and their parents but all the relevant medical and dental institutions from all over the country have also praised this revolutionary initiative of centralized admission process, he added.
He said, on the one hand, participants of this two-day workshop will not only able to know about the new regulations of PMDC but it will also provide them a broader platform to share their expertise on the other hand. This will enabled them with appropriate and effective guidance in the inspections of various medical and dental colleges.
He hoped that the KMU and PMDC will continue to carry out collaborative activities of improvement in medical education not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but in the entire country in the future. VC KMU Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid in his opening remarks shared that with the enforcement of centralized admission system in all public and private medical and dental colleges will not only ensure merit and but it will also help in standardization of medical education. Pakistani doctors are considered one of the best and are doing meritorious service in all parts of the world and that is a testimony to the effective regulation of medical education being done by the PM&DC, he added.
