KMU Senate Meets at Governor House Nathiya Gali-Peshawar(2nd June, 2021)
The 13th meeting of the Senate of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar was held under the chairmanship of Chancellor of the University / Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman through a video conference at Governor House Nathiya Gali and Peshawar. Besides other members of the Senate the University Pro-Chancellor and Provincial Minister for Health and Finance Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Vice Chancellor KMU Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, Principal Secretary to Governor Muhammad Idrees Khan, Secretary Higher Education Dawood Khan, Additional Secretary Finance Department Safeer Ahmed and Additional Secretary Establishment Department Muhammad Ayaz attended the meeting.
While presenting the annual report of the university, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq said that during the last few years the University has rendered exemplary services in creating new knowledge and research as well as other fields of health. He said that the role of KMU Public Health Reference Laboratory has been exemplary during the Corona pandemic, while the services that have been launched to prevent corona virus through the establishment of a Mass Vaccination Center at the University are now being praised at every level. Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq said that it is gratifying that at a time when other public sector universities in the province are facing financial crisis, KMU is financially stable due to its excellent financial discipline.
Addressing the Senate session, Chancellor KMU/Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman, said that since KMU is the only medical university in the province, we all have high expectations from it. He said that the progress made by KMU in a short span of time is exemplary for other universities in the province. The Governor said that it was satisfactory that the budget of KMU was in surplus and the principles of best financial discipline were being implemented here.
He also directed the university administration to introduce a centralised system of paper marking along with dress code in all the affiliated medical and allied health institutions of the university. It is worth mentioning that in light of the University Statutes, the meeting also approved the annual budgets of 2018-19, 2019-20 and revised budget for the financial year 2020-21 respectively. The meeting also recommended Prof. Dr. Musarat Jabeen, KIMS, Kohat as member Finance & Planning Committee of the University. On this occasion the Governor directed the management of KMU to get approval of the annual budget for the new financial year 2021-22 by the Senate during the current month of June. He maintained that in future the annual budget of any university would not be approved after the expenditure occurred
