1st International Public Health Conference at KMU

1st two days International Public Health Conference begins at Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar. On first day there were eight Pre-conference workshops held on multiple topics. An important activity of the first day event was visit of various departments and Institutions by a high level delegation of Nanjing Medical University (NMU) China lead by Director School of Public Health NMU Prof. Dr. Qizhan Liu along with his members including Prof. Dr. Jiangming wang, Prof. Dr. Di Wu and Prof. Dr. Adrian Heald. The NMU team also holds a detailed meeting with Vice Chancellor KMU, Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid along with his team comprises of Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmad, Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, Deans and Directors of various faculties.

It is worth mentioning that visit of NMU team was part of an MOU recently signed between KMU and NMU. In the said MOU both medical universities were agreed upon to work jointly in the academic and research areas. It was also decided that public health departments of both universities will chase many noteworthy activities, such as educational and academic exchange, collaborative research, lectures, seminars, workshops and cooperation in projects for mutual interest.

Meanwhile VC KMU Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid welcomed the NMU delegation and has said that signing of MOU between KMU and NMU and visit of Chinese delegation will not only strengthen mutual relations between both the prestigious institutions but it will also lead to address public health issues jointly. He hoped that this conference and especially visit of NMU delegation will pave way for handling mutual public health issues. In the end VC KMU and Prof. Dr. Qizhan Liu cut Pak-China friendship cake and shields were also presented to the Chinese delegation as a token of friendship and love.#
