VC KMU Chaired 4th HODs Meeting

The fourth meeting of HODs of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq. Besides Registrar Prof. Dr. Saleem Gandapur and heads of different institutions and sections attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that HEC has approved M.Phil Microbiology and M.Phil Histo Pathology programs in addition to PhD Physiotherapy, So KMU will start the process of admissions in these three programs from next academic year.

It was decided at the meeting that the eligibility criteria of the various positions of the faculty would be reviewed by anomaly committee. Dr. Sami Siraj, Director, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, informed the meeting that the infrastructure of the Institute has been developed as per the directions of the Pharmacy Council. The issue of faculty and library has also been resolved. He said that the Pharmacy Council would visit IPS soon and hoped that we would get the registration soon.

Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmed, Chairman, Centralized Admission Committee, said that the MBBS and BDS Admission Policy for 2021 has been prepared and sent to the Provincial Government for final approval from where it is expected to be approved soon. We will be able to announce MBBS and BDS admissions in the first week of October.

Dr. Asif Ali, Director, IPDM, said that a standard and modern diagnostic lab would be set up at KMU under the institute and collection points of this lab would be set up in all the important centers of the province. He said that necessary steps were being taken to make this lab the best lab in the province which would not only increase the research activities but also provide quality diagnostic facilities to the people at below market rates.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq while addressing the meeting said that the results of regular holding of HOD meetings have started coming to the fore in the form of better decisions and immediate implementation of these decisions. He said that IPMR and INS would soon be shifted to the newly constructed building while the old INS building would be converted into IPMR and INS girl hostel. This will solve the problem of girls' hostels on a permanent basis. He said that this year our focus was on expansion through the establishment of sub-campuses of the university while next year we will focus on the educational and administrative stability of these institutions.
