2 Days Scientific Writing Workshop Organized by KMU-IPDM
A two days’ workshop on scientific writing was organized by the KMU- Institute of Pathology and Diagnostic Medicine. The workshop was conducted at the multi-purpose hall, and facilitated by Associate Professor Dr Ihsan Ullah, PhD Coordinator and Secretary graduate study committee, who has experience in teaching scientific writing , synopsis/research proposal writing, Thesis/Dissertation writing and bioethics. One facilitator was Dr Amna Shah Mehmood, a visiting Assistant Professor from the Martin Luther University, Germany.
The aim of the workshop was to equip postgraduate PhD, FCPS and MPhil scholars/residents and practicing physicians/surgeons with the scientific writing skills, synopsis writing, Dissertation/Thesis writing and quality publication in impact factor journals. The workshop was open to all clinical doctors and basic scientists in the field of medicine and basic medical sciences.
Almost 35-40 participants attended the the workshop that from different hospitals and universities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The participants were mixed lot of Physicians, Surgeons, and Basic scientists who wanted to improve their research and scientific writing skills. All the participants took great interest in workshop and they appreciated the efforts of KMU in providing an opportunity for learning scientific writing skills. The participants also appreciated the efforts of the facilitators, who presented good content of literature search, research methodology, electronic sources used in research, quality publication, synopsis, proposal writing, and dissertation/thesis writing in the workshop and they were happy to learn these new skills and techniques.
The participants also requested to organize such activities for the doctors and basic scientists to learn more about these skills. They thanked the faculty for conducting a successful workshop. The facilitators also thanked the audience for cooperation in during the workshop. While talking to the workshop as chief guest Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Gandapur Registrar KMU said that the aim to organize such workshops is to improve scientific writing skills of health professionals. He said, "We are planning a certificate course on Scientific writing in the near future which will help of clinician and basic scientists in improving the scientific writing and publication skills."
At the end of the workshop the chief guest distributed certificates among the participants and facilitators. A shield of thanks was also presented by the Director IPDM Dr Asif Ali to the Registrar KMU as chief guest at the end of the ceremony.
