Training workshop on infection prevention and good clinical lab practices concludes at KMU

The Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar in collaboration with National Institute of Health Sciences (NIH), Islamabad and Health Care Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized a four days training workshop on infection prevention & control and good clinical lab practices for participants that were representing institutions throughout KP.
The vice chancellor KMU, Prof Dr Zia Ul Haq grace the occasion as chief guest in the concluding session, while Col (Rtd) Dr. Muhammad Amjad Khan from National Institute of Health, Islamabad and his team of doctors, Chief Executive Officer KP Health Care Commission Dr. Nadeem Akhtar, director KMU-Public Health Reference Laboratory Dr. Yasar Yousafzai, Registrar KMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, director KMU-Institute of Pathology & Diagnostic Medicine Dr. Asif Ali and In-charge Pathology Deptt Hayatabad Medical Complex Dr. Shahtaj Khan were also present at the occasion.
Talking to the closing session the vice chancellor KMU Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq   said that that Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is the main pillar of preparedness and response to all infectious diseases.  There is a recognized need for capacity building of health care workers on implementation of IPC measures to ensure patient safety and quality of care. The VC KMU hoped that this training workshop will help the participants to improve their practices and skills about basic principles of infection prevention and control and methods to prevent from contagions at their workplace.
Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, emphasized on the importance of IPC implementation as one of the main indicators of quality care. He assured that KMU will continue its role in arranging such courses for the health care workers of KP, including the newly merged tribal districts.
Dr. Nadeem Akhtar, CEO Health Care Commission shared few words regarding the workshop and its objectives.  Col (Rtd) Dr. Muhammad Amjad Khan from NIH, Islamabad shared his views on importance of the training workshop at this point in time. The technical session in the workshop was moderated by Dr. Hafsah Muhammad and vote of thanks was shared by Dr. Asif Ali, director KMU-IPDM.
