I have worked as a surgeon, academician, researcher and administrator encompassing 15 years of service.
My recent research has been on various aspects of spinal cord circuitry more specifically the role of Spinoreticular neurons in rats. I have used stereotaxic surgery for tract tracing as well as immunohistochemistry. Most of this work was done in the University of Glasgow, Spinal cord research group with Professor David J. Maxwell. In addition we had collaboration with Dr. Ingela Hammar from Gothenburg University, Sweden working on cats. This work has now been extended into all aspects of anatomy: developmental (infertility studies), gross anatomy (Dental morphology), microscopy (toxicology of pesticides), biomechanics (In collab with Dr Samit Chakrabarty, University of Leeds), Forensic odontology, Plastination, Artificial Intelligence and neuro-anatomy (brain tumour cells morphology). Applied and extended teaching and learning of via MOODLE, virtual histology and developing soft/personal development courses for students.
My passion is to improve the learning and teaching environment at IBMS for the students. To improve on student experience at KMU and give them a flavour of belongingness by developing Student Clubs, like Clean and Green Pakistan and helping them develop soft personal development skills.
Improving upon the research ecosystem at IBMS I started the Research Symposia series culminating in first International Basic Medical Sciences Conference, BMedCon 18 and further the ASCON 20 that was blended with both National and International speakers and now the Research Forum-BMS that provides a regular platform for workshops and symposia at KMU.
The latest programs to be started within this year is FCPS Anatomy.
