Admission criteria and procedures for Phd
Each candidate shall make an application for admission to PhD programme in response to an advertisement by the university on the prescribed form along with documents specified in the form.
The allocation of marks for determining merit for admission to PhD programme shall be as follows:
- Academic record 30%
- Publications 10%
- Admission test 40%
- Interview 20%
The candidate must have passed the admission test; Health Professions Education [70%], English Verbal [15%], and Analytical Reasoning [15%]), developed locally by the University with minimum passing score of 70%.
Successful candidates in the above test will submit a two pager synopsis on the topic that candidate may like to pursue for his/her doctoral thesis. Synopsis must reflect the background, rationale, research question & objectives, proposed methodology and expected outcomes of the research.

The aim of this PhD programme is to produce a trained team of experts with best level of skills in research and academia in the field of health professions education, and to become leading Health Professions Educationalist capable of addressing health professions education problems pertinent at global, regional, national and local levels through a multidisciplinary approach.
The objectives of the PhD in health professions education programme will be to:
Develop trained human resource in research skills and methodology in the field of health professions education
Conduct quality and credible research in health professions education
- Develop leadership for academic, research and service sectors of health professions education.

By the end of this programme, learner will be able to:
- Advance health professions education through cutting edge research following the principles of good practice
- Search and critique the relevant literature
- Evaluate and apply various research paradigms, methodologies, methods and theories
- Conceive, design and implement a study design with scholarly integrity at a level that merits international refereed publication
- Communicate and disseminate research findings through presentations, publications and books to the wider scholarly community
