A high-level delegation of Islamic Emirate Afghanistan visits KMU

Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar has decided to speed up the establishment of the proposed campus in Kabul Afghanistan. It was decided on the occasion of the meeting of a high-level Afghan delegation with vice-chancellor KMU Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq. The Afghan delegation led by Dr. Nazar Mohammad director of foreign affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan consisted of Dr. Rafiullah Atta, vice-chancellor of Afghanistan International Islamic University, Kabul, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Zahid, dean of Agriculture faculty, Dr. Abdullah, dean of Engineering faculty, and Hafiz Sami ul Haq, coordinator of Higher Education Department of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan while on this occasion, Registrar KMU Inamullah Khan Wazir, director academics Dr. Zilli Huma, Prof. Dr. Lal Muhammad Khattak focal person Kabul Campus and deputy director affiliation and monitoring Mohammad Tayyab and other participants were also present.

 

The Afghan delegation said that peace has been completely restored in Afghanistan after a long war, and now all our attention is focused on the country's welfare and development, in which we need to get cooperation from the international community as well as close neighbors like Pakistan. They highlighted that after the restoration of peace in the country, our priority is education, provision of public health facilities, restoration of infrastructure, and provision of wide employment opportunities. They said that Pakistan has always helped its Afghan brothers in every difficult hour and today’s visit objective is to further seek cooperation and assistance from KMU.

 

The delegation said that Afghanistan needs generous assistance from experts in medicine, public health, engineering, and agriculture. They said that being the sole medical university in the province, KMU can guide and help us in various fields of medical education such as medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing, and allied health sciences.

 

On this occasion, the vice-chancellor of KMU informed the Afghan delegation about the progress of the proposed campus of KMU in Kabul so far and said that KMU has completed all the necessary documentary and legal requirements for the establishment of this campus and now it is up to the Afghan government to give us a proper building where to start the proposed campus.

 

He said that any of the locations that the KMU delegation had identified for the proposed campus during their visit to Kabul last year would be suitable for starting this project, so it is expected that the Afghan government will give us an immediate response.  

 

Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq said that with the initiation of this project, Afghan students will have the opportunity to obtain higher education and training in various fields of medical education at their doorstep, as well as opportunities to obtain an internationally recognized degree from KMU. On this, the Afghan delegation assured that they will soon talk to the Afghan government and the senior officials of the Department of Higher Education and try to implement this useful project as soon as possible.
