Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar organized a grand, dignified, and vibrant ceremony to commemorate the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan. The event was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, and attended by KMU Registrar Inamullah Khan Wazir, heads of various institutions, deans, faculty members, administrative officials, and a large number of students.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag and a passionate collective rendition of the national anthem, filling the atmosphere with patriotic zeal. Later, an Independence Day walk was held under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, during which participants waved national flags and raised slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Long Live Pakistan Armed Forces.” In connection with the 78th Independence Day, the Vice Chancellor also planted a sapling in the university lawn.
Addressing the participants of the walk and the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq said that celebrating Independence Day with passion and enthusiasm is the hallmark of a living nation. He remarked that our forefathers made immense sacrifices to achieve this homeland, and it is now our collective responsibility to safeguard, develop, and strengthen it.
The Vice Chancellor paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their bravery and sacrifices in “Marka-e-Haq” and urged students to follow Quaid-e-Azam’s guiding principles of Unity, Faith, and Discipline. He further encouraged them to study the poetry of Allama Iqbal, which, he said, carries the true essence and philosophy of freedom.
