The assessment, conducted in collaboration with Evidence for Health (E4H) and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), marks a key step in understanding and addressing the health impacts of climate change in the province.

The event featured prominent government officials and health sector leaders, including the Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health, Ahtisham Ali, and Dr. Amjad Ali Khan, Focal Person to the Chief Minister on the Health Sector. Also in attendance were Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Vice Chancellor of KMU, Director General of Health Dr. Muhammad Saleem, and Special Secretary Health Ghafoor Shah.

Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq announced KMU’s commitment to the initiative, unveiling a new CHVA-focused curriculum spearheaded by Dr. Maria Ishaq Khattak, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Public Health & Social Sciences (IPH & SS). The course will be offered as a standalone module and integrated into the Master of Public Health (MPH) program, preparing future professionals to tackle the health risks posed by climate change.

The event underscored the importance of collaboration between government bodies, academic institutions, and international partners in addressing the intersection of climate change and public health.
