The Provincial Health Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, underscored the importance of professionalism and innovation in education and healthcare during his recent visit to Khyber Medical University (KMU). He emphasized that both sectors are top priorities of the government, advocating for the introduction of European model medical facilities in healthcare and market-based subjects in Medical educational institutions.
The visit also featured an enlightening presentation by Vice-Chancellor, KMU Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, who highlighted the university's endeavors in expanding physiotherapy, nursing, and allied health sciences programs across Province and Newly merged (NMDs) area. Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah expressed his support for these initiatives and endorsed the proposal to establish KMU campuses in all Newly merged (NDSs) districts, with backing from the Higher Education Department.

During the visit, Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah received a comprehensive briefing on various aspects of KMU's advancement in medical education. This encompassed discussions on the university's teaching hospital, research center, and ongoing construction projects aimed at expanding medical facilities. Acknowledging KMU's transition to a paperless university and its pioneering introduction of computer-based examinations through an e-office system, Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah commended the institution's dedication to embracing modern educational methodologies. He received a detailed briefing on KMU's achievements from Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq.
Regarding healthcare infrastructure, Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah expressed satisfaction with the progress of the KMU teaching hospital Research Centre, which is anticipated to be finalized within the next two to three months. He appreciated the proposal for the hospital to offer state-of-the-art facilities and specialized services, including bone marrow and liver transplants. Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah reaffirmed the full support of the provincial government for these initiatives, wholeheartedly endorsing the proposal.
