The vice-chancellor Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq inaugurated a 3-day book fair during his visit to Ayub Medical College (AMC), Abbottabad and held an introductory meeting with the faculty of the college. Dean AMC Prof. Dr. Umar Farooq, Medical Director Dr. Alam Zeb Swati, faculty, and a large number of students were also present at the occasion.
Vice-Chancellor Khyber Medical University Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq and Dean Prof. Dr. Umar Farooq visited all the stalls set up in the book fair and expressed their interest in various books.
Talking to the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq said that the book fair will strengthen the habit of reading among young students. Book friendship is the best form of worship, which increases the knowledge and consciousness of a person. He further said that the study of every field has become indispensable for us. Books based on human history, science, and other topics broaden our thinking. Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq congratulated the Islami Jamiat Talba for organizing the book fair and described this initiative as commendable.
After that, vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq held a detailed meeting with the faculty of AMC. He said that KMU is giving special importance to improving the quality of medical and allied health sciences education in its constituent as well as affiliated institutions. KMU is pursuing a comprehensive agenda of reforms in all matters related to academics, research, examinations, laboratories, and governance of the institutions affiliated with the university in light of the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission and relevant regulatory bodies. More than two hundred affiliated institutes of KMU are part of our existence and raising their overall quality is our top priority.
Later on the vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq also visited Women Medical & Dental College (WM&DC), Abbottabad, where he and Managing Director WM&DC Dr. Azhar Khan Jadoon signed an MOU for mutual cooperation in research, academics and other scholarly activities.
