Khyber Medical University, Peshawar invites applications for the Entrance test for Admission in all Public and Private Sector Medical /Dental Colleges/Institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the session 2010-11. The Entrance Test will be conducted by the Educational Testing & Evaluation Agency (ETEA) Govt. of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, August 8th 2010 at 09:00 A.M.
Fourth Meeting of KMU Senate held
The Senate of the Khyber Medical University (KMU) in its 4th meeting held with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Owais Ahmed Ghani, in the chair at the Governor's House on Tuesday has allowed its management to go ahead with its Vision-2015 development plans, both in respect of its academic and research studies as well as construction of infrastructure facilities.

Workshop on Clinical Research Methods and Bio Statistics & SPSS concludes
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar has said that the purpose of organizing workshop on “Clinical Research Methods and Bio Statistics & SPSS” was to enhance the understanding and to increase the capacity in research of KMU PhD Scholars. Quality of teaching and learning in the higher education institution of Pakistan has been under a great criticism for long. The emergence of private institutions and their mushroom like growth is the result of declining confidence of a common man on the public sector universities in Pakistan. Keeping this fact in view, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan established Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in Islamabad and 10 Quality Enhancement Cells (QEC) at various public sector universities in Pakistan.

Three Days Undergraduate Medical Curriculum workshop concludes
Vice Chancellor (VC) Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hafizullah said that the current undergraduate medical curriculum is decades old. This is a system base curriculum where all subjects are taught in isolation with no coordination. In almost all the medical schools in the developed countries the curriculum has been changed positively. Even in our own country some of the medical colleges have introduced changes either totally or partially, he was addressing as chief guest to the concluding session of three days Undergraduate Medical Curriculum workshop held here at IPM&R HMC, Peshawar.
Curriculum must be changed to the requirements of modern age, Secretary Health NWFP
Curriculum development is dynamic process. It cannot remain static. It has to be changed to the requirements of modern age and local needs. Our institutions should not lag behind. Vice Chancellor (VC) Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar Prof. Dr Mohammad Hafizullah along with Prof. Dr. Shad Mohammad Director Academics, Admission and Quality Assurance (AA&QA) undertook a weeklong visit of University of Leicester (UoL), UK and signed an MOU and discussed the upcoming PhD scholarship programs in Basic Medical Sciences of KMU with UoL management.

APPNA meeting in San Francisco
Annual dinner of KMC ANNA - Khyber Medical College Alumni of North America was held in Marriot San Francisco on 3rd July 2009. There are more than fifteen thousand doctors of Pakistani descent working in North America. Khyber Medical College has contributed more than four hundred towards it. One of the hallmarks of mela of APPNA - Association of Physicians of Pakistani descent of North America is different medical colleges celebrating their annual reunions.

Two days workshop on Development of MCQs and SEQs
A two days workshop on development of MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) and SEQs (Short Essay Questions) was held here in the Committee room of KMU. Attendants of the workshop gained valuable ideas and knowledge regarding scoring strategies for short essay questions, enlisting various types of assessment tools for cognitive domain, differentiating between one best and one correct MCQ and writing extended matching questions. Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani, while appreciating the visionary approach of the management of the Khyber Medical University towards, development of this sole institution of its nature in the province, has assured every possible support to materialize its plan to achieve the goals set by KMU on fast track basis.
This is an exciting time for Khyber Medical University: we are at the threshold of revamping medical and allied health education. All four elements of health - prevention, promotion, curative intervention and rehabilitation demand similar importance to develop a comprehensive health care approach. The emphasis on health care team approach at all levels for all-inclusive health care delivery system requires preferential treatment of nursing, paramedical, allied health and public health along with medical education.
