The 26th meeting of the Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar Academic Council was held under the chairmanship of vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq in the Committee Room. Registrar KMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, Pro VC and dean of clinical sciences Prof. Dr. Lal Muhammad Khattak, Prof. Dr. Haider Darain dean of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Inayat Shah Director IBMS and Dr. Brekhna Jameel Director IHPE, Muhammad Islam additional director academics, besides heads of various institutions and other members attended the meeting.
VC KMU Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq welcomed all the participants, he said that the academic council is a very imperative forum for making important policies related to different levels of academics, examinations, and admissions. He said that the leading and constructive role being played by the KMU academic council in medical and allied health sciences was admirable.
Prof Dr. Zia Ul Haq emphasized on digitization of all departments where the software will be installed in every department of KMU, where more facilities will be created but all the employees will have to be fully aligned with the plan. He said that all the affairs of our university are still going well, but with the help of digitalization, more facilities will be created where a clear change will be seen with one click. All participants unanimously approved this policy. After digitization, all university examinations will be computerized based which is a clear priority of KMU toward transparency, he added.
A number of issues were discussed in the meeting in which the Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Forensic Medicine program will be started at KMC in collaboration with KMU. BLS course has been made compulsory for all final year students of all affiliated and constituent institutions of KMU.
Muhammad Islam Additional Director of Academics presented various academic policies in the meeting the council agreed and advised for implementation in true letter and spirit. Dr Brekhna Jameel Director of IHPE also updated the forum about changes in credit hours, curriculum, format, and other important issues, both agendas were unanimously approved. The Principal KIMS, KIDS, Directors of IBMS, IPS, IPDM, IPMS, KMU-IHS Islamabad, and INS presented their agenda items on various academic matters and were discussed in detail and approved with consensus.
